About Master of Arts in Applied Philosophy and Ethics (MAPE)

The underlying philosophy of the programme is to provide deep and ideologically clear education in applied philosophy and ethics, which apart from equipping the learner with foundations of philosophy will help instill into the learner the right ethical criteria to make sound decisions, when seeking real life solutions in the social, cultural and professional situations both in public affairs and business. The programme is structured to provide a firm foundation in philosophical principles and practical skills that form the basis of finding solutions to ethical questions or problems and creating an ethical environment in society. The curriculum provides ethical and philosophical foundations of making decisions social, business and public environments such as education, family, life, communication, culture and arts, religion, politics and economics, environment, work and management.”

The goal of studying

The goal of the programme is to give the foundations and skills needed to understand and improve the ethical and governance environment of society.

Entry Requirements for MAPE

Holders of First Class or Upper Second degrees in any academic field from recognized universities; or
Holders of Lower Second Class degrees plus Postgraduate Diplomas or Certificates in any field of study; or with at least two years of working experience in teaching, managerial or research responsibilities.
In addition to meeting any one of the above admission criteria, applicants will be required to submit letters of recommendation supporting the applicants’ academic and professional abilities and attend and pass an oral interview and a Graduate Entrance Examination (GEE).

All applicants need to meet the following entry requirements:
Possess at least a first degree in any area from a recognized university Have at least 2 years of working experience for a second class lower division undergraduate

On the day of the interview, bring the following documents:

  • Originals and copies of relevant certificates and complete academic transcripts with grades attained
  • Two (2) completed Reference Forms >> Download reference forms
  • An updated Curriculum Vitae/Resume.
  • 3 passport size photos.
  • A copy of National Identity Card (ID) or copy of Passport
  • Kshs 2,500 Interview fee payable on the interview day
